Vallée - Fleurs de Cerisier
Dawn has not yet broken, and yet the air is already warm. The valley is wrap-ped in a thick, low-lying mist that drifts between the trunks of the cherry trees and clings to their branches like an invi-sible thread. But there is no chill to it; instead, it carries a gentle warmth.
The trunks, warmed the day before by intense sunshine, still give off a woody warmth, a blend of blond tobacco and sap softened by the heat.
A delicately vanilla-tinged scent un-folds, lifted by a subtle spicy breath of cardamom.
In this valley, the cherry trees are not planted at random: they follow the na-tural lines of the mountain, in terraces reminiscent of the rice fields of Yunnan, as if entirely draped in pink. The petals, opened by the warmth, release an al-most sugary softness, as if each blos-som were exhaling a balsamic breath.
