Verger - Rose Litchi
In the orchard, light filters through the dense leaves, casting flecks of gold across the bark, the earth and the fruit, swollen with sweetness. The trunks, twisted by the passing years, still bear traces left by the dampness of monsoons gone by.
The lychee trees bend under the weight of red clusters: fruits so ripe they seem ready to fall of their own accord. Red and taut like tiny lanterns, they exude their fragrance. Their rough skins, hea-ted by the sun, diffuses an almost vanil-la-like softness, tinged with tonka, with a sweet note reminiscent of the still-warm white flesh inside. The warm lychee pulp exhales a soft, candied, almost creamy scent. Under the sun, this fragrance swells and mingles with a trace of rose drifting through the air.
All around, the atmosphere grows soft, almost voluptuous.
The pickers will not be long now.
